How to Stay Eco-Friendly in Work

Everything these days is about being environmentally friendly and everyone pulling together and making our world a better place to live.

Well, below, we’ve got some of the best ways that you can ensure your business is doing all it can to be ‘eco-friendly’.

Recycling at Work

If you do your recycling, then you’re on to a winner. The UK Government is very strict these days when it comes to making sure everything goes in to the right box to be disposed of properly.

Hiring a high quality commercial cleaning company will ensure that you do your recycling so, as a business owner, you can rest easy at night.

Office Lighting

The office lighting is quite a big one. You can get energy saving light bulbs for your office. Which not only will obviously save energy, but will also benefit your work force.

If your workforce struggle with a poor sleeping pattern or often feel fatigued or lethargic, there are natural light bulbs out there which can provide you with what the sun does and will help to increase mood, sleep and the energy used.

Environmentally Friendly Office Products

These products, on average, only cost 5% more than your usual office products which is a small price to pay when it comes to cutting down on waste and pollution.

Starting small is the key. 100% recycled paper notepads, non-toxic highlighters and refillable ink cartridges etc are a great place to begin when it comes to making your first steps into using eco-friendly office products.

Go Paperless at Work

Going paperless is a great way to ensure that your office is doing its bit for the environment. You may think that this is an unrealistic goal but if you cut down on your use of printed material, you’ll be helping.

If you only print when it’s absolutely necessary, then again, you’ll be doing that little bit more to help. Also, if you do use paper and other printed materials, try and aim to use recycled products.

All of the above suggestions are something that you can suggest to other companies that you work closely with and even your clients.

Whether that be your chartered accountancy firm, who lets face it, could probably do to go a little more paperless, or anyone of your countless customers/clients, you’ll be doing your bit for the environment and there’s no recommendation like word of mouth.
