When you give someone a gift, the item itself is only one of the things that you need to think about. Even the most wonderful of presents can be made nicer to receive if you take the time to provide an extra couple of flourishes with the packaging. Here are 5 steps to take if you want each gift to stand out and say something special.
-
Use a Gift Box or Bag
Firstly, make sure you provide your special gift in a box or bag instead of just handing it over covered in wrapping paper. This makes the item seem more exciting, and it shows that you went to more trouble to make things look interesting. In general, a gift box will be better for smaller items while a bag will work for larger ones.
-
Use Gift Paper
After you’ve picked up a gift box or bag, you should use some coloured tissue paper to liven things up. This will stop the item moving around too much while it is being carried, provide an extra dash of colour, and also offer a few more layers to delve through until the person in question gets to the gift itself.
-
Use Ribbons and Other Decorations
Next, buy some ribbons or other decorations. Ribbons are clearly best for boxes; you can tie them nicely around the box to make each one look more complete. However, you can also use them for looser gift bags to tie around the top. Stick-on decorations are also an option, as long as you can resist the temptation to go overboard.
-
Add a Scent
We’re mostly dealing with how to make a gift look better, but you can also engage a person’s senses by giving a spritz of perfume to the inside of your bag or box; if you use tissue paper, spray that instead. Just a light touch will be plenty.
-
Don’t Leave Off the Card
Finally, remember to attach a card with a little message to the person who is receiving your gift. This might seem like an unnecessary touch if you’ll be offering the gift directly, but it’s still a nice thing to do that people will appreciate.
